The End of Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa and Reforms for the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) in Australia

The Australian Government has discontinued new applications for the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) as of December 7, 2024 and introduced reforms for the the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream of the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186).

Reforms to the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186) TRT Stream

      Nomination Requirements:

      • Employers can nominate all eligible holders the SID 482 visa streams for the TRT 186 visa stream.
      • For the Specialist Skills 482 visa stream; occupations just need to be listed in ANZSCO, within Major Groups 1,2,4,5 or 6 and have a salary that meets the Specialist Skills Income Threshold. This makes it a good pathway option for the TRT 186 visa stream.
      • The work period requirement for the TRT 186 visa stream will require holders of the SID 482 visa to have completed 2 years of sponsored employment in the 3 years prior to your application for the TRT 186 visa.

        ANZSCO Search Tool

Navigating Australia’s migration landscape can be complex, but ANZSCO Search simplifies the process. This tool helps migrants match their skills with in-demand occupations in Australia, ensuring they align with visa requirements under ANZSCO classifications.
