Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)

The 190 visa is designed for highly skilled workers nominated by an Australian State or Territory, offering the opportunity to live and work permanently in Australia. To initiate the application process, individuals must first secure a positive skills assessment for their nominated occupation and subsequently submit an Expression of Interest. Successful candidates, upon receiving a nomination from a State or Territory, will then be invited to proceed with lodging a visa application. This points-based visa caters to skilled workers seeking permanent residency in Australia with the endorsement of a state or territory government.

The Initial Steps: Nomination by a State or Territory Government

Each State and Territory Government maintains a specific list of occupations in demand within their jurisdiction. These may include distinct requirements related to your work experience, proficiency in English, or specialized skills.

Commence the process by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect, providing details about your nominated occupation, skills, and qualifications. SkillSelect will generate a points score, and if it meets the required threshold, Australian state and territory government agencies will review your EOI to determine whether they wish to nominate you.

Upon successful nomination by a state or territory agency, you will receive an invitation to apply for the visa. Subsequently, you have a 60-day window to submit your visa application, which will be processed by the relevant authorities.
